Stem cells research now has many supporters.
For many years the stem cells investigation was devoted to embryonic stem cells which unfortunately required the destruction of a few days old embryos.
These embryonic stem cells don’t continue to exist beyond 4 or 5 days after conception, therefor this research required the destruction of these cells.
One can easily see the potential for disagreement and there has been a great deal of stem cells research opposition.
Catholic
Church.
Amongst these was the Roman Catholic Church and they strongly opposed the destruction of human embryos.

The Catholic Church had originally disagreed with stem cell research.
More recently a new research system using adult stem cells has been discovered which has given a new interest to stem cells research.
Adult stem cells
Adult stem cells treatment has now completely changed the research which is now being investigated and today great progress is being achieved using these adult cells.
Adult stem cells are found throughout the life of the body whereas embryonic stem cells have a very short life span.
All earlier attempts to use adult stem cells previously failed due to the research methods which were then being used.
This new discovery has reinvigorated adult stems cell research and today over 4000 stem cell research investigations are taking place across the planet.
Great success is now happening by the use of these adult stem cells.
